About me? Are you kidding? Why would you want to know anything about l'il ol' me? Here's the Reader's Digest Condensed Version:I am a...Believer. Phenomenal Wife. Bewildered Mom. ADD-addled Spaz. Deaf Chick. Graphic Designer. Blogger, I mean... Aspiring Writer.Photographer. Passion Parties Consultant. Thirty-one Consultant. Guano Whacknut. Not necessarily in that order.I juggle a
husband, two sons, Zaya & Mika; two cats,
Elmer &
Emma; and
two Jack Russell Terriers, Elli & Erin. I do all this while heroically coping with a powerful addiction to Photoshop, my iPhone,
Facebook, and
Twitter. And of course, now,
Google+; and since its arrival, I have only come out of my office to eat, use the bathroom, and sleep.
Here's the Encyclopedia Britannica:My Bio Here’s a few things about me. I’m a (capital B!) Believer who sometimes says “shit,” rarely drops the f-bomb; regularly drinks but seldom gets drunk; smokes a half a pack a day and considers quitting at least once a month but then doesn’t, and hopes you won’t judge me for it and tries my damnedest not to judge you. Whether you’re gay, lesbian, bi, questioning, straight, single, shackin’ up, hitched, white, black, brown, purple or polka dot has absolutely no bearing upon my love and acceptance of you. Now, all that has the potential to piss a lot of people off, but if it does then we probably weren’t destined to be total BFFs anyway, yeah?
I’m a wife, and I’d like to think I’m pretty good at it. I’ve been married for 17 years to my very best friend, Tom, and I love him with all my heart, my mind, my body and my soul. I’m well aware that I’m making a choice to be deeply, passionately in love every single day.
I’m a sometimes proud, sometimes exasperated mom. We have two boys, 15 and 12, and I’ve been a completely bewildered mother ever since the first one crawled out of the escape hatch and I remain completely bewildered to this day. Sometimes I think parenthood is one big opportunity for improvisation.
I’m Deaf but I’m still learning ASL so I have the passport but it’s not stamped yet, and I wish that everyone signed and that I could sign better than I do. I have hearing aids and they help but they’re not miracle workers so I rely pretty heavily on lip-reading and body language.
I’m a photographer, a graphic designer, a writer (and ok by writer I actually mean blogger), and completely ADD addled -- hence -- Dory.
I’m totally addicted to Apple, Photoshop,
Google+,
Facebook, a good merlot, reading, quilting, and shopping on Amazon, not necessarily in that order. And I completely freak out if I don’t know where my iPhone is.
If you want any links to my profiles in social media, just cruise on over to
jenness asby dot com and you’ll see a set of icons there. So now you should “Follow” me or “Friend” me or “Like” me or just bite the head off my chicken and wear it as a hat or whatever you kids do to *pathetically whines* beee myyy frieeeend.
What I like to shootAh, almost anything. I first got interested in photography when my father gave me a 110 camera at about 12 years of age. I got very serious about it when I was in college for graphic design in 2004. It officially switched from a hobby to an occupation around fall 2010 when I did my first paid photoshoot.
1- Artsy-fartsy shotsI’d like to think that someday my images will be on someone’s wall. So I like to capture subjects that almost anyone would like to hang in their home. I have a vast portfolio of mostly nature shots; landscapes, flowers, vegetables, anything that makes someone smile.
Sometimes an image lends itself particularly well to adding an inspirational word, quote, or scripture. Let me know if one of my images catches your eye and there is a quote that is special to you that you’d like me to add to it. I’m a graphic designer as well as a photographer, so I will make your customized image look outstanding.
2- PortraitsI do outdoor on-location photography. I like to use anywhere that is a beautiful as a backdrop. Cedar Rapids has many city parks that work just great for this purpose. Here are some portrait subjects I’ve captured: newborn, baby, toddler, family, senior, engagement, and wedding.
3- Someday...I’d like to get into corporate portraits and sell stock photography. I’d like to have my own studio. And I’d like to have lots of groovy photography equipment to fill it up.
